DESIGN EXPERIENCE
Niagara Foot Keel - High-Performance Modules Team
Designed a carbon fibre-reinforced nylon footplate for a passive prosthetic foot intended for use in lower-resourced regions, improving accessibility for larger and more active users.
Applied SCAMPER and Quality Function Deployment (QFD) to ideate and define key design criteria.
Conducted material research, structural design, and optimization using CAD and FEA (SolidWorks) and composite beam analysis (MATLAB) to achieve target performance goals.
Led the team, I was responsible for communicating with faculty advisors, clients, and project managers on behalf of the team. I was also responsible for organizing and leading team meetings.
Gearbox Design for a Small Vehicle
Designed a two-stage gearbox for a speed and hill climb test alongside a team of mechanical engineering students.
Modelled the gearbox in CAD (Solidworks)
Assisted in the writing of a Python code using a momentum update class to simulate and optimize gearbox performance.
Nordic Walking Pole For Older Adults
Redesigned the base and handle of a Nordic Walking pole for older adults in an interdisciplinary project.
Used Six Sigma and QFD design strategies.
Researched the optimal geometry and materials.
Modelled the Design in CAD (Solidworks) for 3D printing.
Had regular meetings with our client to present progress and receive feedback.
Bone Scaffolding
Designed a biocompatible bone scaffold for a 12-year-old patient with benign chondroblastoma in the proximal portion of her right tibia.
Used QFD to determine the function requirements for the design.
Modelled the scaffold in CAD (Solidworks) for 3D printing.
